Brandon, known as the "Wheat City," is a city in Southwestern, Manitoba, Canada. The surrounding area is often referred to as "Westman."

We are nestled in the heart of a large agricultural area located along the banks of the Assiniboine River. Brandon was voted as one of Canada’s "10 best Cities" by Chatelaine magazine.

Brandon is the second largest city in Manitoba with a population of approximately 40,000 people. It is the major service center for the surrounding agricultural area which has an approximate population of 70,000 people. Brandon’s major industries are related to agriculture, retail and government services. Brandon is also home to the Brandon University and Assiniboine Community College.

Brandon has the following amateur sports teams:

  • Brandon University Bobcats (Basketball)
  • Brandon University Bobcats (Volleyball)
  • Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Brandon has two regular local newspapers. The Brandon Sun is a daily paper while the Wheat City Journal is a weekly publication.

Brandon has one AM radio station, CKLQ 880, which is the official sportscast of the Brandon Wheat Kings. Brandon has several FM channels including KX96 Classic Rock, STAR FM 94.7 Adult Contemporary and Hot 101 The Farm which is country music.

Brandon has an extensive roadway system like most modern cities. There is a complete taxi service, a daily bus service, a municipal airport and many walking/ biking trails throughout the city and surrounding area.
